Alexander Sanchez, MD, FAPA

Dr. Sanchez has dedicated his career to psychiatry, a passion that began at a young age.
He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from The College of New Jersey before graduating from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at New York Medical College’s Metropolitan Hospital Program in Manhattan, where he served as chief resident. During his training, Dr. Sanchez gained valuable experience caring for a diverse community with a wide range of ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Dr. Sanchez has taught medical students and residents at New York Medical College and currently serves as a faculty member at Hackensack University School of Medicine, where he teaches medical students. In addition to teaching, Dr. Sanchez actively mentors residents and early-career psychiatrists, fostering the next generation of mental health professionals. He has also developed and led lecture series on topics such as human sexuality, psychological development, neuropsychiatry, and psychosexual disorders. Recognized for his contributions to the field, Dr. Sanchez is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Sanchez’s expertise has been featured in prominent media outlets, including ABC News and The Hill. He currently serves on staff at Essex County Hospital Center, providing care for individuals with severe mental illness from Essex County and surrounding areas.

Dr. Sanchez has a professional passion for supporting patients through life transitions, managing anxiety disorders, and helping individuals develop and embrace their identities.
